In the beginning of Izabel, there was an uneventful pregnancy (thank goodness) for my daughter Danielle, which made those 9 months so surreal. Or maybe it's because I have a childlike wonder to pregnancy.
I mean, all of a sudden there's this human that arrives quite theatrically, naked and crying and bloody and so breathtakingly beautiful.
***NOTE: If childbirth makes you queasy, abort now.
Danielle had originally thought that she didn't want me to photograph her having a baby, and I was going to respect her wishes, but the nurse and I somehow got onto the subject and we persuaded her to let me document the whole delivery. Of course, I had brought my camera fully charged, JUST in case.
It’s so heartwarming that Danielle is not alone bringing a baby into the world as I was. David will be a fantastic Daddy. I couldn't be more proud of these two. They will raise Izabel well.
What a magical experience! Notice the blue light on Izzy's chest. Blessed by angels?
Mother, meet your daughter.
It was so endearing being one of the first voices that Izabel heard after being born. I'm so grateful to have been invited to this incredible event. She will have such a strong support system throughout her lifetime. She will be a strong woman... Izabel Athena.
