Jacqui is a Resume Writer and contacted me about updating her headshot. She expressed concerns about how her makeup wasn't really her style in the image she had been using and wanted to feel like she was looking at an image showing her true self. So she was nervous about how the images would turn out, but her husband Rob had seen my work and convinced her that I could deliver.
Who are you? What's your story? Does it translate onto your website? Do you have any quirks? These are the kinds of questions I asked Jacqui at the consultation. These answers are how I start designing the shoot and is what will connect her (or not) to her potential clientele.
Jacqui and I are both passionate about telling people's story. Except she uses words to create bomb resumes, I use photography.
We then created a Pinterest inspiration board to design her shoot.
Jacqui and "Captain Rob" moved from Kansas City in 2011 in search of less noise and more zen. They are water lovers and boat lifers. In fact, Rob sold us our boat which is how we all connected. I had left him my card and Jacqui contacted me later. Camaraderie is very important but has been somewhat of a challenge when the online world began. Especially for professionals. Enter Personal Branding.
Because it is so personal, getting in front of a camera can be nerve-racking... but then I arrive and put you at ease (because we've already met at the consult) and then we start to kid around and have fun then you see the results and you feel empowered. And THAT energy of joy and confidence and community bleeds into your images which in turn attracts clients.
I got in front of the camera not too long ago. I worried that the photographer wouldn't get my good side or I'd look fat. But they were fantastic!!! I felt the fear, but I didn't hold onto it. I relaxed and let the photographer work her magic.
It's a Social Media World we live in these days. Entrepreneurship has skyrocketed. So something had to happen to create a sort of handshake for client-to-business introductions. Enter another genre of Personal Branding, Professional Branding.
So many professionals are primarily online these days. They needed to level up from the casualness of Facebook, but be more accessible than LinkedIn. Professional Branding bridges the gap with a straightforward connection of business to client. Images can be shared on all the platforms and to use in their blog and on their website.
My job is to capture and deliver what the client wants to illustrate. Friendliness...
Jacqui requested a few shots at the lake just around the corner from where she lives and works so I suggested that she bring her fun Spider as a prop.
And of course, Jacqui also wanted the traditional headshot to present her professional side.
Jacqui is her brand. We identified her unique style and captured her flair in a personal branding session. Now, what makes you you? Are you ready to create your vision?
